Bonnie Thornton RT (R), RN, MS, COHN-S, CCM

Bonnie experienced a rewarding career beginning in radiology and followed by Nursing. Her interest in Occupational Health began with Rab Cross MD at Business & Health in Springfield, MA.  Bonnie conducted site visits to the local “client” companies learning the employee’s work environment and the employer requirements.  She pursued her Master’s Degree in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety from Anna Maria College in Worcester, MA, and was the recipient of the Massachusetts Nurse Excellence Award in 2007.  

Bonnie became an active member of the Western Massachusetts Association of Occupational Health Nursing in 1994. She served on the Board in various positions for seventeen years, dedicated to the successful development of the chapter and its membership. During this time, she was the onsite nurse at Intelicoat Technologies in S. Hadley, MA providing direct care and managing Occupational Health injuries and illnesses.  Bonnie’s next role was an Occupational Health Nurse Case Manager at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center where she worked for sixteen years and retired in July 2018.  She currently is employed at the Comprecare clinic in Harrington Hospital, Southbridge, MA. and remains an active member and leader in Occupational Health Nursing.

Bonnie’s friendly demeanor and collaborative, helping philosophy is a gift to MaAOHN.  She is recognized for her fruitful and rewarding career contributing to the health and wellbeing of many employee’s lives.  A deserved Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes Bonnie’s years of dedication to Occupational Health Nursing.
