We are very pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) is continuing our collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center to offer Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) to support implementation of screening and treatment for latent tuberculosis infection (latent TB infection or LTBI). We will be launching a new series on January 23, 2020, with Session 1 beginning February 6th.

Project ECHO is a collaborative model of clinical education that employs case presentation and mentoring, and uses video conferencing. Latent TB Infection-ECHO is targeted to primary care clinicians and other members of multi-disciplinary care teams.  It is open to primary care providers/teams across Massachusetts. CME credits will be offered.

Six sessions each approximately one hour in length will be offered and include didactic and case based learning. The curriculum will address a range of topics, including:

  • TB infection background
  • Risk assessment
  • Testing options (TST vs. IGRA)
  • Latent TB infection treatment options
  • Treatment monitoring and side effects
  • Common challenges and solutions
  • Latent TB infection care cascade
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Health reporting and resources

Please register by Friday, December 1, 2019 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LTBI-Reg2020.  Please refer to the attached flyer for additional details.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me, Jennifer Cochran, or Susan Foley from the ECHO team at UMass (cc’d) if you would like additional information about the Latent TB Infection-ECHO.
