2019 MaAOHN President's Message

Dear MaAOHN Members,

I would like to introduce the 2019 MaAOHN Board of Directors and Officers:

It is an honor to serve with these lovely ladies-their years of service and expertise are truly amazing!

 2019 promises to be a very exciting year starting off with the AAOHN Bylaws changing to keeping their focus on national issues only.  The biggest change is that you can now join only the National Organization without designating a region or state at $165 and then if you want to join the region/state it will be another $20.  It also means that you can now join only NEAOHN/MaAOHN for $65 for regular membership and $30 for Retired or Student Membership.

Both NEAOHN and MaAOHN have been working very hard to update their Bylaws to reflect this issue as well as setting up systems to handle the dues for folks who do want to join only NEAOHN/MaAOHN. 

 The MaAOHN Bylaws will be ready for MaAOHN members to vote on at the FAME conference in April

 The planned conferences for 2019 promises to be informative and exciting.  This year started off with a wonderful conference on January 16th on “Acute Flaccid Myelitis, E. coli, Zika, and other merging Infections--- New, Old or Re-Emerging?” presented by Alfred DeMaria, Jr., M.D

Upcoming conferences are:

  • March 25-26: Workers’ Compensation conference in Waltham MA

  • April 2: MaAOHN joint meeting with MAPHN in Tewksbury, MA at 5 pm on Dementia

  • April 27: MaAOHN Annual FAME conference in Raynham, MA on Suicide Prevention/Risk Fractures show &tell/Malpractice: How to stay of trouble/fame awards/voting on MaAOHN Bylaws and more

  • September 21: Western, MA (green Nursing Project/Stop the Bleed/Narcan)

  • December 5 & 6: Annual MaAOHN & NECOEM conference
