Position Title: Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) Department: Radiology Reports To: Interventional Radiology Manager Position Overview: The Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality patient care before, during, and after radiological procedures. This role involves assessing patient needs, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring patient safety throughout the imaging process. Key Responsibilities: 1. P atient Assessment: 2. C onduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical history and current health status. 3. E valuate patients' emotional and physical needs prior to procedures. 4. P reparation for Procedures: 5. P repare patients for various imaging procedures (e.g., X-rays, CT scans, MRIs). 6. E ducate patients and families about the procedures and any necessary preparations. 7. M onitoring and Care: 8. M onitor patients’ vital signs and reactions during procedures. 9. A dminister medications and contrast agents as prescribed. 10. C ollaboration: 11. W ork closely with radiologists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. 12. C ommunicate effectively with patients and families to address concerns and provide support. 13. P ost-Procedure Care: 14. P rovide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications. 15. E nsure patients are stable and ready for discharge, providing follow-up instructions as necessary. 16. D ocumentation: 17. M aintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses. 18. E nsure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. 19. C ontinuous Improvement: 20. P articipate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in radiology nursing. 21. C ontribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives. Skills: - Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. - Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift and move patients as needed. - Prolonged standing and walking may be required.
