Qualifications: - Graduate of approved School of Nursing - BSN preferred - Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Previous nursing experience preferred - BLS required. Registered Nurse - RN Boston and Waltham locations - may require coverage in the Braintree location in the future The staff nurse is a registered nurse who is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care for specific patients and families, including delegation to and supervision of non-professional and support staff. The staff nurse is responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of a designated group of patients. They collaborate with the Nursing Director and the Adolescent-Pediatric Team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. They also collaborate with the patient toward efficient and effective personnel and unit management. Principal duties and responsibilities: - Provides competent, compassionate nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of nursing process and a primary nursing model. - Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment for patients and families. - Articulates the professional nursing roleto the patient, family and health team members. - Identifies, facilitates, and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for an individual patient or group of patients. - Coordinates involvement of the patient, family and health team members in patient care, including patient/family teaching and discharge planning. - Documents relevant patient information. - Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other health team members. - Helps define standards of excellence for patient care; participates in improvement of patient care services in a cost-effective way. - Provides care appropriate to the following age group of patients: Culturally sensitive as well as supportive diversity and equality § Adolescence (13-17 years) § Young Adult (18-25 years) The staff member demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver care appropriate to each of the age groups listed above. - Participates in and contributes to performance improvement activities. - Collaborate to ensure optimal transition of patients care home. - Collaborates with other providers and directs nonprofessional nursing personnel in maintaining recognized standards. - Participates in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members. - Appropriately uses nursing resources. - Interprets hospital and departmental policies and procedures to nurses and other health team members. - Participates in daily operational activities necessary for safe patient/staff environment. Uses resources efficiently to facilitate optimal patient care. Provides input to the Nurse Director regarding unit needs. Participates in unit and departmental committees for formulation of nursing and hospital policies and procedures. Professional Development: - Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing education practices. - Adheres to Department of Nursing requirements for required training. - Identifies specific learning needs and goals and develops a plan to meet them. - Contributes to relevant committees, professional meetings, continuing educational and/or formal academic programs. Research Support research efforts to advance knowledge and to promote research-based practice Perform needs assessments of primary care pediatric clinics and sub-specialty clinics Perform needs assessments to understand barriers and perceived capacity to care for transitioning patients in adult primary care clinics ***All duties and responsibilities listed above are essential functions of this position unless otherwise noted.
