Skills and Experience: - Minimum of 5 years of Transplant Nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting, preferred. - Three years management/supervisory experience, preferred. - Ability to effectively supervise others. - Highly motivated, independent, and capable of performing in a complex environment; Strong sense of initiative and perseverance to carry through to completion of tasks. - Demonstrates forthrightness and integrity. - Ability to identify issues/projects and initiate plans to address asking for direction when appropriate. - Ability to develop a common vision for diverse constituents, communicate effectively, sell ideas, and take ownership and responsibility for activities. Education/Degree: - Baccalaureate degree required. Master’s degree preferred, with the recommendation that one degree be in nursing. Licensure, Certifications, or Registration: - Current licensure as a registered nurse in Commonwealth of Massachusetts. - Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification or Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) is required or must be obtained within 3 years of date of hire. About the Clinical Nurse Manager Role and Transplant & Renal Clinic The Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible for the ongoing daily clinical operations and patient care management of the Transplant and Renal Clinic, which are comprised of the adult and pediatric pre-/post-abdominal transplant, nephrology, dialysis access, laboratory, and infusion clinics. The Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager functions as the on-site clinical manager for the Transplant and Renal Divisions, working in close collaboration with respective Medical, Surgical, and Administrative Directors to direct all clinic related activities, while ensuring safe and compliant operations in alignment with hospital policies, procedures, and practice standards. The incumbent is responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and counseling the clinics nursing and medical assistant staff, and collaborating with the practice leadership in conducting corrective action, performance evaluation, and termination of clinical support staff. S/he will also participate in the planning, evaluation, and implementation of clinical and administrative functioning of the clinics. In addition to clinic operation responsibilities, the Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager will also support nursing staff coverage as needed, recruitment and retention of clinic staff, and ensuring proper training of staff in maintaining core competencies. The Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible for ongoing and annual evaluation of nursing and medical assistant support staff. He/she is also responsible to assure quality nursing care to all patients and caregivers, including the ongoing monitoring of patient satisfaction to support continuous improvement efforts. Additional responsibilities of the Ambulatory Clinic Nurse Manager include supporting medical providers in the care coordination of the most complex patients, maintaining, and updating these patients’ care plans in the electronic medical records as needed, and managing the practice’s UNOS data submission to ensure adherence to care guidelines and conduct appropriate interventions.
