- - Massachusetts RN license required - BSN strongly preferred - One year of acute care experience is required - 36 hours a week, Day/Night rotation that includes weekends and holidays We are seeking a passionate, skilled, experienced RN to join the Bigelow 7 team! Bigelow 7 is an 18-bed inpatient medical unit with telemetry monitoring that strives to achieve the highest standards of excellence in patient care and outcomes. No new graduates for this position Our encouraging leadership and team deliver expert care to a range of medically complex patients. The unit is fast-paced, high energy, and enthusiastic about patient care. On Bigelow 7, we prioritize fostering a positive work environment where our team thrives. One of the reasons to choose Bigelow 7 is our commitment to infusing fun into the workplace culture. - Patient population ranges from young adults (age 18) to geriatric, the majority of patients are admitted with respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, end stage renal disease, sickle cell disease, end stage liver disease, cancer, substance use, and other medical conditions ranging from acute episodes to chronic conditions - Complex diagnoses such as Steven Johnson Syndrome, Calciphylaxis, acute on chronic congestive heart failure, patients requiring high flow oxygen, BiPap (bilevel positive airway pressure), acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, pulmonary embolism, chest tube monitoring, diabetic complications, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous bladder irrigation. - Provide monitored services such as antibiotic therapy, blood transfusions, insulin drips, TPN (total parental nutrition), diuretic drips, heparin drips, intravenous IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin), rituximab, patient-controlled analgesia drips, nerve blocks, and further care and monitoring for stable patients transferred from the Intensive Care Unit As Registered Nurses (RNs) at Massachusetts General Hospital, our every action is guided by knowledge, enabled by skill and motivated by compassion. - Staff provide conscientious care to our patients and their families, working as a team to support a culture of excellence. - Bigelow 7 ispart of the medical resident teaching service at MGH - Nurses on this unit work in collaboration with patients, families and across disciplines to achieve optimal patient outcomes. - Candidates should also possess strong assessment skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment, managing hi-acuity situations.
