Overview

This is a 3 hour course put together by Nevada Nurses Foundation. During this three-hour presentation the Nevada State Board of Nursing presents on Nevada Nursing Regulations, and we also have presenters discussing “Gamification of Nursing Clinical Simulation Using Virtual Simulation Activities” and "Cannabis Care: Essentials for Nursing Professionals".

Learning Objectives

Presentation 1: 

  • Identify 3 different nursing practice complaints
  • List 4 ways to keep your license
  • Identify at least 2 new legislative changes impacting nursing regulation in 2023
  • Identify 2 ways marijuana impacts nursing 

Presentation 2:

  • Define the Nurse's Role in Cannabis Care: Explore how nurses can serve as key educators and advocates in guiding patients through the complexities of cannabis use, including counseling on responsible use and monitoring for adverse reactions.  
  • Navigate the Legal and Ethical Considerations: Gain clarity on federal and state regulations concerning cannabis use, including the legal implications for both patients and healthcare providers.
  • Apply Knowledge to Patient Care: Develop skills to educate patients on safe cannabis use, recognize potential drug interactions, and advise on the management of side effects related to cannabis consumption.

Presentation 3:

  • To gain an overview of the state of current advances in virtual gamified simulation activities for clinical education. 
  • Analyzing effectiveness of gaming elements for virtual learning by developing activities that improve learner centeredness, peer communication, interprofessional communication, collaborative learning, team dynamics, maintaining trust environment.
  • Understanding and evaluating the use of virtual technologies such for gaming activities such as video conference software, virtual reality, augmented reality, mobile devices, and social media platforms
